Knueppel, who joined SEPTA in 1988 as an entry level structural engineer, will close out a decorated 32-year career at the agency.
Kooistra will replace Brian Lamb, who is not being re-appointed. Lamb has served as GM since 2004.
Shelley Devine will temporarily lead TriMet while the Board finalizes its decision on a permanent GM.
Isacc Thorne will focus on making sure there are ADA-compliant bus stops with shelters and examining fare structures.
Ben Capelle will succeed Ray Jurkowski, who announced his retirement earlier this year and has served Laketran as GM since 2003.
Gannon, 47, served as interim GM from March 2016 until now. He was Metro Deputy GM from 2013-2016, and Human Resources manager for the King County DOT from 2011-2013.
His accomplishments as GM include improving service for MBTA riders, designing and implementing an $83 million Winter Resiliency program and ensuring that the renovation of Government Center Station was completed on time and on budget.
Lewis is leading the agency through a significant stage of growth to construct the LYNX Blue Line Light Rail Extension and advance the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 streetcar through final design and into construction.
Wiedefeld will assume his position as Metro’s chief executive on Nov. 30, 2015, and receive an annual salary $397,500 plus standard benefits.
