Metro-North's Fordham Station was completely restored with upgrades including a rebuilt northbound platform with double the capacity, a new entrance leading directly to Webster Avenue at 193rd Street and new permanent artwork. These upgrades follow the complete renovation of the historic station building on Fordham Road, which was completed in 2014.
Amtrak announced that it will move its Twin Cities service from the Midway area to the newly-renovated Union Depot on May 7, making it the latest transit entity to move to the historic train station that reopened more than a year ago.
The Franklin Street Station, which served as the main station for the Reading Railroad Co. starting in 1929, saw its last train depart in 1981 and stood in disrepair for more than three decades.
The Lancaster Public Transportation building renovation is being funded by a $105,000 State of Good Repair grant from the Federal Transit Administration.
The city of Battle Creek’s the Intermodal Transportation Center, used by Amtrak and other carriers, features include a new entrance/passenger drop-off area, fenced long-term parking lot, improved exterior lighting and landscaping, as well as remodeled office space for Amtrak and other tenants.
The contract, worth $13.1 million, includes the complete replacement of the door systems and upgrade of the wheelchair lifts, as well as the wreck repair of one car.
