S.F. officials vow to ride public transit for 22 days

The challenge, spearheaded by the advocacy group San Francisco Transit Riders, will continue until June 22 and aims to help city officials gain familiarity with public transit and inspire them to improve the experience.

$57M San Francisco Central Subway subcontract awarded

Layne Christensen Co.’s Geoconstruction division received a contract from Tutor Perini Corp. to build the foundation for three underground subway stations. The two-year contract is scheduled to start in early 2014.

S.F. Muni launches bike share program

The pilot includes 350 bikes and 35 stations in San Francisco as part of a 700-bike and 70-station regional unveiling. Bay Area Bike Share bikes are commuter-style bikes built to withstand constant use and resist theft.
