FMCSA proposes Safety Fitness Determination Rule

The proposal would replace the current three-tier federal rating system of “satisfactory–conditional–unsatisfactory” for federally regulated commercial motor carriers with a single determination of “unfit,” which would require the carrier to either improve its operations or cease operations.

N.Y. coach co. in crash has satisfactory safety rating

The New York Trailways bus involved in a collision on the New York State Thruway that injured seven passengers and the driver received a satisfactory safety rating from the FMCSA. Still, over the past two years, the carrier has had two accidents and drivers cited for fatigue and speeding.
