North Dakota receives TIGER II Grant for rail project

Utah breaks ground on streetcar project

The Sugar House Streetcar will provide residents of South Salt Lake City with a direct connection to the Utah Transit Authority’s North-South TRAX line, allowing them access to 130 miles of passenger rail. The streetcar is expected to open in late 2013.

FTA green lighted work on the University Circle Rapid Transit Station, which was awarded $10.5 million from the TIGER II Program in October 2010. The project will involve reconstructing the station, which includes consolidating the bus and transfer area and the rail station.

Forty-two capital construction projects and 33 planning projects in 40 states were awarded funding. Nearly 1,000 construction grant applications for more than $19 billion were submitted from all 50 states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.
