N.C. State University's Wolfline bus system — a solely university-based line — sees a much more drastic decrease in ridership over the summer from about 7,000 hours of service per month during the school year and only 2,000 hours of service per month during the summer.
Include increasing the number of routes, speeding up the route times and having more stops in residential destinations The university also added five new night routes, with four running during the week.
Some of the issues officials expect students to bring up are crowding on buses, new opportunities for park and ride facilities, and additional transfer opportunities for students.
Since most College of Engineering classes are held on the Centennial Campus, where students don’t typically live, most students need to take the buses, which quickly become overcrowded.
Universities were evaluated on factors such as renewable energy, alternative transportation, LEED/green building, recycling, environmental studies, green space and campus conservation and outdoor recreation.
