Miami-Dade County (Fla.) awarded a contract to North American Bus Industries (NABI) for 70 Model 30-LFN low-floor shuttle buses. The LFNs, manufactured by NABI subsidiary, Optare Holdings Ltd., feature a stainless steel body structure with corrosion-resistant aluminum skirts. The ultra-low floor 30-LFN also features a powertrain made up of a Cummins engine in combination with an Allison electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission and retarder. NABI will deliver the first 10 buses by March 2003. The remaining 60 buses will be delivered between June and September 2003.
