Officials of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have confirmed that they plan to conduct a crash test of a motorcoach as early as Fall of 2003, according to the American Bus Association (ABA). The study, conducted in cooperation with Transport Canada, will take place at the Transportation Research Center or at the NHTSA's Vehicle Rearch and Test Center in East Liberty, Ohio. The ABA, which has repeatedly called for the crash testing of motorcoaches, said this effort, in conjunction with other planned research on motorcoach brakes and tires, is long overdue.
