The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) issued a safety alert regarding vinyl film advertising used to cover buses. If the vinyl film covers emergency exit windows, it may make it difficult for passengers to evacuate the bus through these windows in an emergency. "In order to permit the exits to function, it is necessary to trim around the emergency exit window seals," said Harry Saporta, the director of the FTA's Office of Security and Safety. Saporta advised bus operators to test all the emergency exit windows covered by vinyl film advertising and, if warranted, to take the necessary corrective actions.
