Optima Bus Corp. has chosen Digital Recorders Inc. (DRI) to install transit communications products on new Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) buses. The initial order totals approximately $1.25 million. Among the products ordered include electronic destination signs for the front, side and rear of the buses, which will be provided by DRI's TwinVision na, Inc. business unit, and an ADA-compliant voice announcement system. Initial deliveries are expected to begin in September and conclude in the first quarter of 2007. Additional purchase options may eventually increase the total order to more than $6 million over the next five years, according to David L. Turney, DRI's president and CEO.
