During a final late-night session before ending its term of service, the 109th Congress passed a continuing resolution that will extend funding for most federal programs, including FTA programs, through Feb. 15, 2007. The resolution keeps transit funding at fiscal year (FY) 2006 levels until a transportation appropriations bill is enacted for FY 2007. The extension is the third this year. Congress did however adjourn without taking action on H.R. 5689, which proposes technical corrections to SAFETEA-LU.
