New Jersey Transit awarded a contract for the preliminary design of the Trans-Hudson Commuter Rail Tunnel Project to THE Partnership, a joint venture of Parsons Brinckerhoff, STV Group and DMJM Harris. The project includes a new tunnel that will travel under the Palisades in New Jersey and the Hudson River in midtown Manhattan, as well as an expanded rail station that will connect to New York Penn Station. THE Partnership is responsible for the preliminary engineering of the project. Construction is set to begin in 2009 with completion slated for 2016.
