New Flyer named earth-friendly employer

New Flyer Industries of Canada ULC has been named one of Canada’s most earth-friendly employers for 2008 by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.  

Employers were evaluated based on environmental initiatives that involve employee participation and the degree to which environmental values have been integrated into the corporate culture.  

New Flyer operates a Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) reduction program, the backbone of its pollution prevention activities. Employees are trained on product usage and waste reduction, which has eliminated the use of thousands of liters of paint and the associated waste stream. Since 2002, the company has reduced the amount of VOCs released into the environment by approximately 46 percent.
