BOSTON — CAF USA has been awarded a $118 million contract to manufacture 24 rail cars for the City of Boston’s Green Line extension project. Nearly half of the funding is coming from federal sources and CAF will produce the shells and frames for the cars at its facility in Spain, the Star Gazette reported.

Final assembly and testing is to be performed at CAF’s manufacturing facility in Elmira Heights, N.Y. Delivery of the new Green Line cars will take place between the end of 2017 and 2018, according to the report.
