SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Transit Authority (STA) is piloting a new “smart bus” system that will enable riders to take advantage of real-time bus tracking that shows when the next bus will arrive at a particular stop, The Spokesman-Review reported.

The $4.9 million smart bus technology was funded in part with $2.2 million in federal congestion mitigation grants. By making bus riding more efficient, the STA hopes to attract additional riders and get more cars off the streets. For the full story, click here.
