DUBLIN, Calif. — The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) is set to partner with Lyft and Uber, as well as taxicab companies, to help commuters find rides in areas of the suburbs where public transportation is sparse or nonexistent, KQED reports.

LAVTA has committed $100,000 for the pilot program in Dublin and submitted an application for a $100,000 grant from the Alameda County Transportation Commission. If the program saves money and provides a better level of service than currently provided by the agency, it could be extended to other Bay Area suburbs. For the full story, click here.
