EVERETT, Wash. — Local police say thieves looking for cash are targeting Everett Transit buses, hitting at least 11 this week and nine others a few weeks ago, KOMO News reports.

Investigators said the thieves climbed aboard by pushing open the bus doors, then pried open the fare boxes. Everett Police closed the first case because they had insufficient evidence, but are now following up on leads after the latest break-ins, according to the report.

In that first incident, a worker told police the damage was estimated at $1,900 and about $2,500 may have been taken from the fareboxes, KOMO reports. For the full story, click here.
