The Connect Transit Board of Trustees voted to appoint Interim GM Isaac Thorne to permanent GM of the Normal, Ill.-based transit operation.

Thorne replaces Andrew Johnson, who resigned in March for another position with the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District.

Thorne joined the Connect Transit staff in 2007 in a dispatcher role and worked his way up to the chief operating officer in 2014 prior to being appointed the interim GM in March.

"He will focus on making sure there are ADA-compliant bus stops with shelters across the community, bringing more frequent service to busy routes, and examining fare restructuring," Connect Transit Board Chair Mike McCurdy said.
