RideScout, the leading mobile app that allows users to search and compare ground transportation options on demand, today announced they have acquired GlobeSherpa, a market leader in mobile solutions for public transportation with mobile book-and-pay ticketing in several major U.S. markets, such as Portland, San Francisco and Chicago. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and the transactions were completed on June 29, 2015.

With the integration of GlobeSherpa’s transit mobile ticketing technology, RideScout is making significant advancements with their access, booking, and payment options, according to the company. Together, the companies will offer comprehensive solutions for an integrated mobility ecosystem, including:

  • Multiple transportation options accessed through one platform, with booking and payment integrated to allow for a seamless experience.
  • Critical last-mile transportation connectivity for commuters and public transit riders.
  • Mobility packages to incentivize people to use a variety of transportation providers.
  • Back-office analytics and tools for service providers to achieve efficiencies in operation.

“As the transportation landscape becomes more crowded, both the user and mobility service providers are looking for a more seamless experience,” said RideScout Co-Founder/CEO Joseph Kopser. “Integrating mobile ticketing for public and private transportation is critical as we continue to innovate on a central platform for booking, payment, and access to all services."

As RideScout begins to integrate GlobeSherpa’s technology, users will be able to see all transportation options on their mobile device, select the one they want, and pay for the ride, or access it, with just a few taps. GlobeSherpa will also continue to bring mobile ticketing to transit agencies across the U.S. and beyond, according to company officials.
