Eurostar releases ‘Tread Lightly Report’

Higher load factors and a switch of electricity supply in the Channel Tunnel have chiefly contributed to a cut of more than a quarter (31 percent) in carbon dioxide emissions per passenger trips, compared with 2007. Eurostar has now raised its target to a 35 percent savings by 2012.

SFMTA solicits bid for stimulus projects

VIA Rail awards upgrade contracts to IRSI

The $98.9 million fleet overhaul will fully renew all 98 of VIA's Canadian-built cars and reduce their energy requirements by up to 20 percent. The $5.8 million Renaissance rolling stock project will upgrade 21 cars to offer new levels of accessibility for travelers with special requirements.

MBTA to receive stimulus funds for BRT

The $114 million, two-stage project will provide a direct Silver Line connection from Dudley Station to South Station in Boston this fall, and replace an existing heavily-used bus route with faster, more reliable service.

MaxxForce diesels to power Daewoo buses

The new MaxxForce Sprint model in-line four-cylinder engines will power 6.0-ton GVW and 5.5-ton GVW Daewoo Bus brand light buses. The 3.2-liter turbodiesels feature four valves per cylinder and comply with Euro III, IV and V emissions standards.
