Flooding from the severe storms over the weekend caused erosion to sections of the Light RailLink track foundation. The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) announced that Light RailLink service from Patapsco to Cromwell and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport stations will be temporarily suspended while repairs are completed. A free bus bridge has been put in place to accommodate passengers and will stop at all impacted stations.

“The safety of our riders is our first priority.” said MDOT MTA COO Sean Adgerson. “We are working to complete these repairs to ensure the well-being of everyone who rides our system.”

Based upon thorough inspections and the scope of work needed, it is anticipated that Light RailLink service will need to be suspended for approximately two weeks to complete the needed repairs. The timeframe is highly dependent on weather conditions and MDOT MTA will continue to monitor track conditions during this process.
