ADL lands order for 55 single-deck buses

Alexander Dennis Ltd. (ADL) announced that UK bus operator trentbarton placed an order for 55 Alexander Dennis Enviro200 single-deck buses. Delivery will take place in spring 2020 and in early 2021.

trentbarton is adding 55 single deckers to its award-winning fleet in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire. The new buses will continue a strong track record of investment and an established partnership between manufacturer and operator, taking the total number of Enviro200 buses built for the trentbarton and Kinchbus fleet since 2016 to 136. Once the new buses are in service, Enviro200s will account for nearly 50% of trentbarton and Kinchbus’ fleet.

Delivery of the first 30 buses is planned in spring 2020, with the remaining 25 to follow at the start of 2021. All will be approximately 40-feet long and will have highly specified interiors designed to provide an unrivalled journey experience for passengers.

New Flyer to deliver 8 clean-diesel buses to Honolulu

The City and County of Honolulu, operating transit as “TheBus,” awarded New Flyer an order for eight clean-diesel, 60-foot Xcelsior® heavy-duty transit buses. The buses will replace existing TheBus vehicles that have reached end of useful life, and help provide cleaner mobility and high capacity transit in the greater Honolulu area.

New Flyer’s clean diesel technology feature engines using a four-step process to filter harmful emissions from the exhaust. Developments in clean diesel over the past decade have significantly reduced emissions, including particulate emission reduction of 90% and a 95% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) pollution. This innovation also lowers operation costs, improves drivetrain power and torque, and directly benefits the health of residents.

Oahu Transit Services Inc. operates fixed-route and paratransit services for the city and county of Honolulu, providing more than 69 million rides annually with a fleet of 540 buses. The American Public Transportation Association has twice honored TheBus as America's Best Transit System, in 1994-1995 and 2000-2001.
