GO Transit launched GO mobile — its first official mobile application that will keep passengers who are on the go — in the know.

In collaboration with Ryerson University, GO Transit developed the app which is now available on BlackBerry, iPhone and Android devices. The GO Mobile app allows users to view and bookmark GO schedules, see Union Station departure information and set arrival alerts. Text-to-speech functionality allows devices to read departure information aloud to users. The app is available in both English and French.

"This is an important step in the ongoing customer service evolution at GO Transit," said Minister of Transportation Bob Chiarelli. "Travelers now have access to information from their mobile phone, making their trip planning faster and easier whether heading to or from work or class."

The introduction of GO Mobile is just another way GO Transit is improving the customer experience. It builds on initiatives like improved easy-to-read timetables; the PRESTO fare card; GO's 15 minute guarantee that will ensure passengers get where they need to be, safely and on time; and the Passenger Charter, which is focused on putting the customer first.

The unique partnership between GO Transit and Ryerson University provides GO riders with smart mobile technology while supporting local Ontario research and innovation, particularly in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems.
