The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) recognized Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) with its 2012 DBIA Transportation Owner of the Year Award in the category of transit. The award was presented April 26 during the 2012 Design-Build in Transportation Conference in Phoenix.

DBIA acknowledged RTD’s significant contributions in advancing design-build awareness and understanding. Of RTD’s FasTracks transit expansion program, about 70% is being implemented through design-build, including the I-225 Light Rail project, Eagle P3 project, and the Denver Union Station redevelopment. Richard Clarke, RTD assistant GMr of capital programs, accepted the award on behalf of the agency.

FasTracks is RTD’s voter-approved transit expansion program to build 122 miles of commuter rail and light rail, 18 miles of bus rapid transit service, add 21,000 new parking spaces, redevelop Denver Union Station and redirect bus service to better connect the eight-county District.
