First Transit was awarded a shuttle transit service contract from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

First Transit will manage and operate campus shuttle service for the students and faculty of UAB, beginning in July of 2013. Shuttle service will operate throughout the 323-acre campus.

“We are honored to be a part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham,” said Scott Conroy, director, operations, southeast region, First Transit. “While at UAB, our goal will be to provide students, faculty and staff with a safe and reliable transit service throughout the school year. The team looks forward to this opportunity and becoming a dependable asset to the university.”

The company will employ a safety-focused staff of 15 drivers, operating a fleet of 12.
