ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Journal reported Mayor Richard Berry and other supporters are proposing a bus rapid transit (BRT) line, with the City Hall and the Mid-Region Council of Governments mapping out potential routes. The city is designing a 17-mile route that may open in 2017.
The mayor told the paper that Albuquerque needs “to take the next logical step in public transportation” and that he thinks that includes BRT.
While neither the city nor Council of Governments would provide cost estimates yet, though each said it would seek federal funding, which could cover half to 80% of the construction cost. For the full story, click here.
