3 candidates considered to lead Mich. RTA

DETROIT — The Detroit News reported that the Regional Transit Authority for Southeast Michigan (RTA) will interview three candidates to lead the agency after John Hertel bowed out in January.

The RTA’s executive and policy committee voted last week to bring before the board of directors on Wednesday Michael Ford, CEO of the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority; Albert Martin, a former director of the Detroit Department of Transportation; and Brian Marshall, former CEO of the Capital Area Transit System in Baton Rouge, La.

Paul Hillegonds, chairman of the RTA board that supported the recommendation of the RTA staff, told The Detroit News the candidates have experience they are looking for with managing transit systems and running campaigns to finance transit systems.
