LOS ANGELES — Cost estimates for the proposed streetcar line in downtown Los Angeles may be about $55 million less than officials had previously said, The Los Angeles Times reported.

If the Federal Transit Administration gives the project the full $75-million grant it seeks, that would still leave a funding gap of more than $100 million. To make up the difference, officials said that the city plans to arrange a public-private partnership, according to the report.
