Amtrak ridership in July Fiscal Year 2008 increased by more than 2.7 million passengers, – nearly a 14 percent increase – marking the most passengers carried in a single month in Amtrak’s 37-year history.

Total ridership for the fiscal year, which runs from the beginning of October to the end of July, reached 23.7 million, topping last year’s 21.3 million.

Meanwhile, total ticket revenue for FY08 was also up 14.1 percent compared with FY07 to $1.4 billion and July’s revenue increased 18.6 percent to $168 million.
