TAMPA, Fla. — On Friday, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., said Florida’s high-speed rail project will not move forward, because Amtrak, the project’s last hope, said it could not meet the April 4 deadline to compete against other states for Florida's original $2.4 billion allocation, Tampa Bay Online reports.

However, Amtrak head Joseph Boardman said in a phone call to Sen. Nelson that it would like to work with Florida to revive a high-speed rail project in the future. For the full story, click here.
