NEW YORK — Last week the Federal Railroad Administration released the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the "DesertXpress" high-speed rail project that will connect Las Vegas to Victorville, Calif., a 185-mile route that parallels Interstate-15, America 2050 reported. The high-speed rail line is expected to eventually connect with the California high-speed rail network that is currently under construction.

This step clears the way for final permitting and construction groundbreaking, which could happen as early as December, according to Sen. Harry Reid. For the full story, click here.
