NEW YORK — Retired Long Island Rail Road workers who fabricated disability claims to get bigger pensions would avoid prosecution and be able to keep their benefits if they admit wrongdoing under a deal with the federal government, officials told the AP.

After making arrests in a months-long probe, federal officials also said they are offering an amnesty program for others to come forward by July 6. Fewer than two dozen people have been arrested so far, but authorities suspect that hundreds of other workers also made up claims. For the full story, click here.
