OAKLAND, Calif. — The San Jose Mercury News reported that Bay Area Rapid Transit District trains are running, since negotiations between the agency’s management and transit system’s union continued past the 11:59 p.m. strike deadline.  

At about 5:30 a.m., federal mediator George Cohen told the paper that both sides were taking a break and will be returning to the bargaining table this afternoon. For the full story, click here.
