Calif. high-speed rail group rejects call for project slowdown

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that state Sen. Andy Vidak (R-Hanford), took issue with the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s (CHSRA) decision to move forward with its latest Central Valley alignment in a letter last week.

Sen. Vidak stated in the letter that he is “concerned about the short notice of this new alignment and the lack of outreach to people who live in the area.” He believes the authority should meet with San Joaquin Valley residents before moving ahead with its latest route, according to the paper. In response, the CHSRA made public a letter addressed to the senator. The letter stated that it is a "misconception" that the alignment being recommended by organization’s staff is a "new" route, when it has been one of many alternatives since July 2012.
