93% of young professionals support Hampton Roads light rail extension

NORFOLK, Va. — Nearly 93% of the members of tHRive – a group of young professionals – endorse the Hampton Roads Transit’s light rail extension to the Virginia Beach Town Center, according to an informal online survey, The Virginian-Pilot reports.

tHRive is a program of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce created by a group of diverse young professionals aged 21 to 39. The chair of tHRive told The Virginian-Pilot that light rail needs to be looked at as an investment, not a cost, and that public transportation investments should be discussed in tandem with maintaining roads.
