Sweden's high-speed trains are the least punctual in Europe

STOCKHOLM — On Sweden's most important high-speed railway lines, Stockholm-Gothenburg and Stockholm-Malmö, as many as 33% of trains have been late during the period 2008-2015 — and that doesn't include trains that are less than 5 minutes late, according to Business Insider Nordic.

That makes Sweden's high-speed trains the least punctual in Europe. Spain, at the other end of the performance spectrum, can boast 98% of high speed trains on schedule, Svenska Dagbladet reports.

System errors (tracks, power lines, etc.) account for about 60% of delays and that's because we've had deficient maintenance for decades, according to officials, BIN reported.
