DURHAM, N.C. — Arguing that light rail placement near Duke Hospital would pose operational and safety problems for the hospital, Duke officials wrote a letter to GoTriangle saying they “cannot support” the rail line’s route as currently proposed, The Chronicle reports.
Duke officials went on to explain that disruptions at street level could prevent easy access for emergency vehicles and create more traffic, while hospital administrators also voiced concerns about the construction's impact on the hospital's power lines.
According to The Chronicle, GoTriangle said there is an ongoing process to resolve the issues with Duke officials, who say they still ultimately support the light rail system. For the full story, click here.
