Alstom announced that beginning in summer 2018, the rail company will deliver 27 Coradia Meridian “Jazz” regional trains to Italian national train operator Trenitalia.

The order is worth about $198 million and brings Trenitalia’s fleet of “Jazz” trains to 118.

The new train will be an Electric Multiple Unit that can run at maximum speeds of almost 100 mph. Coradia Meridian is 95% recyclable. The Coradia features features a low floor for accessibility and is equipped a video surveillance system, info point for passenger information, sound system, braille writing, and 220 volt power outlets for cell phones and laptops.

The deliveries are planned to finish in the summer 2019.
