S.F. MTA, bike group partner on safety initiative

UPDATE: More than 70% of transit measures pass

Twenty-one measures with a significant transit component were considered by voters in 12 states. Fourteen measures were approved; one remains undecided as votes continue to be counted in Pierce County, Wash.; and two more public transit measures will be decided in Los Angeles and Kansas City, Mo. next month.

Proposal would move planned Calif. high-speed rail line

Officials proposed to move a station planned for Escondido closer to Valley Parkway and route the trains through the city closer to the highway. This is intended to reduce the number of houses and commercial properties that would have to be demolished for the project.

Va. voters back light rail

Sixty-two percent of Virginia Beach voters supported a referendum for the city to expand light rail out to the beach. A similar measure was defeated in 1999.
