The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority's LEED Platinum-certified Central Station in downtown Des Moines is the primary transfer location betweeen routes and includes the Customer Service Department and Administrative Offices. The station, which opened in November 2012 features many amenities including climate-controlled waiting areas, covered loading platforms, a bicycle storage room and Java Joe’s CoffeeHouse.

The C-train concept, developed by Jacob Innovations, is an automated mass transit mode of elevated lightweight trains with seating room only. The design eliminates need for depots - via capability to travel on upper and lower wheels by switching vertically between tracks and be stored vertically above the tracks. The cTrain system can be built quickly and cheaply with exiting technologies.

Features of the new 96th St. station for NYC's Second Avenue Subway, unveiled on Dec. 22, 2016, include access for the disabled, climate control to maximize customer comfort, modern computerized signage, and column-free construction for an open, airy atmosphere. The station spans three city blocks at 1,591 feet long and 57 feet wide, and was built with high-ceiling and column-free design to create an airy sense of openness.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo unveiled on December 19, 2016, the largest permanent public art installation in New York State history in conjunction with the grand opening of Phase I of the Second Avenue Subway, which marks the city’s first major expansion project in more than 50 years. The "underground museum" features works by various artists, including large-scale portraits by Chuck Close of cultural figures such as Philip Glass, Lou Reed, Kara Walker and Cindy Sherman.

It is a 32-acre outdoor laboratory for advanced mobility systems that includes network of roads with intersections, traffic signs and signals, streetlights, building facades, sidewalks and construction obstacles.
