The announcement marks the latest milestone in CTA’s efforts to convert to an electrified bus fleet by 2040 as part of CTA’s “Charging Forward Plan.”
The $3.6B RLE project will extend the Red Line from the existing southern terminal at 95th Street to 130th Street.
So far in 2023, the CTA has added 304 new bus operators – more than 43% of its annual hiring goal.
