FTA Deputy Administrator K. Jane Williams said that the federal funding for both projects “will help create jobs and support communities as they recover from the COVID-19 public health emergency.”
With this announcement, FTA has advanced funding for 35 new CIG projects throughout the nation since Jan. 20, 2017, totaling approximately $8.5 billion in funding commitments.
The next phase is preparing a supplemental draft environment impact statement to access potential impacts and benefits of the project.
The project will provide faster, more reliable transit service to important destinations in downtown El Paso, the El Paso International Airport, and the Far East Transfer Center.
The current authorization for federal transit assistance programs expires in September of this year.
Allows for additional public transportation improvements to support safety and increase access/mobility for residents in Florida and Texas.
Jacksonville's project will receive $16.6 million, while CDTA's project will receive $26.9 million.
The alignment serves several major destinations including a Portland Community College campus, and an Oregon university.
The project will serve a dense suburban corridor where the existing roadway network is constrained and travel options are limited to two congested roadways.
