With WisGo, the communities served by MCTS will benefit from an improved transportation experience that is made to fit the needs of all transit riders regardless of their payment method.
Cubic Transportation Systems, along with three other partners, upgraded more than 5,000 Compass Readers throughout TransLink’s system to make transit payments more convenient.
The Puerto Rico Highways and Transportation Authority will utilize Cubic’s Umo mobility platform to modernize its fare collection infrastructure on the Tren Urbano heavy rail system and Metropolitan Bus Authority transit services.
The Umo mobility platform will enable transit users to manage their accounts using a simple self-service web portal, or the Umo App, and reload their accounts with fare products, passes, or stored value.
Umo facilitates contactless fare payment with smart cards and mobile devices, including multi-ride tickets and pass products that are securely validated using QR code technology.
The new system is expected to launch in mid-2023, alongside Milwaukee County’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service.
Riders can get WisGo when they download the Umo App in the App Store or Google Play and enter in “Milwaukee” as their location.
Umo is a national fare collection system that will connect MCTS riders to not only its bus services but to other forms of transit across the region.
With Umo’s mobile app and reloadable smart card, BC Transit will also offer pre-paid stored value and pass products so that riders can easily purchase with a mobile device, new web portal, or retailer and board simply by scanning their mobile device or tapping their card.
The investment will bring the next generation of contactless fare payment and collection technology, allowing riders to “tap and go” with their mobile devices and credit/debit cards.
