The contract for the fleet capable of mixed traction consists of the engineering, construction, and delivery of the 26 vehicles, including warranty coverage, as well as an option for 26 additional vehicles.
Coradia Stream is an Electric Multiple Unit with maximum speed of approximately 99 mph in the regional version.
The order is part of the 2010 contract with SNCF that will provide up to 860 double-deck trains the the French Regions.
The Coradia Meridian trains will serve the Trentino region.
The new orders, which are exercised as two options under a contract signed in 2012, bring Trenitalia’s mostly Italian Jazz fleet to 95 trainsets.
The trains are an additional order in the framework of an ongoing contract signed in 2010 and is valued at approximately $484 million. Delivery of the new trains will start from September 2017 and the trains will operate on Line R of the Parisian suburban network.
Jazz is the latest train coming from the Alstom’s Coradia Meridian range which is designed for regional operators in Southern Europe, mainly Italy.
Including this option, nine Regions have ordered a total of 159 Regio 2N EMUs. The delivery of the additional trains will take place from June 2016 until April 2017.
