The new site is positioned well to handle GCTD’s growing fleet expected to climb from 56 buses to approximately 125 over the next 30 to 40 years.
As part of GCTD's commitment to providing a better customer experience, the Token Transit application will evolve fare payment methods and allow customers to purchase and activate GCTD passes using their smartphones before boarding the bus.
GCTD is building a new maintenance and operations facility, which includes a new administration and operations building, fleet maintenance and repair building, and a CNG fueling station.
The new facility will replace an outdated and deteriorating bus garage located on a three-acre site that was originally built in the 1970’s for a much smaller fleet.

The contract calls for 12 workstation licenses and a Google Transit Export feature as well as a rostering, bidding and timekeeping software, (PERDIS) which will assist Gold Coast Transit to efficiently schedule and manage their 100-plus drivers.
In the past year, State Transit Assistance funding was eliminated completely and the Transportation Development Act Funds that local government use to pay for GCT transit service declined sharply.
Vehicles fueled with CNG, providing the recipients an extra benefit of being environmentally friendly. All the agencies receiving vehicles are responsible for fueling, maintaining and insuring the vehicles, and each will track how the vehicles are used.
The agreement provides a wage increase of almost 10 percent over the two years covered by the contract and a medical benefit contribution increase totaling almost 12 percent over that same time period.
