With more money from the federal level, transit agencies will be able to make crucial infrastructure fixes, replace vehicles and possibly dust off “wish list” improvements projects long-shelved due to lack of capital. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority knows what a difference government support of public transportation can make.
The modern electric locomotives will replace an aging locomotive fleet to support SEPTA’s efforts to expand capacity and provide more efficient and reliable service for its ridership along SEPTA’s regional rail lines.
Prior to his appointment, Knueppel, a 27-year veteran SEPTA employee, served as deputy GM in charge of two divisions — operations and engineering, maintenance and construction (EM&C), as well as several staff support departments.
Before employees get to the international level, SEPTA hosts its own annual roadeos — the authority’s Bus Roadeo just celebrated its 30th anniversary — where operators and maintenance staff compete for company bragging rights, in front of their colleagues and families.
