On May 23, 2015, Houston METRO joined the list of cities with top-notch transit systems with the opening of the Purple Line. Concurrent with the Purple Line, Houston METRO also opened the 3.3-mile Green Line. Combined with the Red Line extension that opened in December 2013, the three new lines will triple Houston's light-rail’s footprint.
Also known as the Southeast Corridor line, the 6.6-mile, 10-station Purple Line begins downtown and travels southeast along Capitol and Rusk to the Palm Center near MLK and Griggs.
