Salem County Community Bus Service received four new 2012 NABI transit buses from NJ Transit. The buses each accommodate 43 passengers and 19 standees.
NABI Executives will be present as well as Aftermarket Parts, Sales and Field Service personnel to provide the latest details regarding NABI’s facilities and products.
The NABI BRT has been engineered and "Whole Bus Tested" at the Altoona Bus Testing Center as a heavy-heavy-duty transit bus and is equipped with a proven structure and industry standard components for dedicated BRT operation as well as regular fixed-route service.
The new front mask incorporates modern and functional design cues including the latest headlight technology, an energy absorbing bumper with integrated styling, and a more raked windshield that's available in single-piece or two-piece configurations.
With a three-phase plan to move manufacturing of bus structures to its Anniston, Ala. plant, company CEO/President Jim Marcotuli believes the removal of some freight and duty from its current cost structure will position NABI to be more cost and lead-time competitive.
The initial delivery, which is under way, will bring the total number of NABI buses in Broward County Transit's fleet to 170 buses. The new buses will consist of both 40-foot and 60-foot BRT articulated buses.
Compared to the previous facility in Ontario, Calif., the move increased the warehouse space by almost 30 percent.
The purchase of the new buses is being made in part by ARRA economic stimulus funding program. To expedite the process, BJCTA was able to turn to another agency who allowed them to contract for some unused options.
With the additional nine 40-foot buses as well as the 16 60-foot articulated CNG buses recently awarded to NABI, 100 percent of Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus fleet will be powered with alternate fueled propulsion systems.
The new larger, more modern premises (35,000 sq feet) are approximately seven miles from the Ontario International Airport and less than two miles from the interstate 15 and highway 60 freeway interchange.
