Stephen G. Bland will begin his new position on August 25. He formerly led the Port Authority of Allegheny County, a multi-modal system with 1,000-plus vehicles and an annual operating budget of $350 million.
So far, Stephen Bland is the only finalist for the job to return for follow-up interviews. The vacancy at the transit authority was created March 31 when Paul Ballard resigned after 12 years as MTA's CEO to lead the Fort Worth Transportation Authority in Texas.
Edward W. Oliphant, who currently serves as CFO of the MTA and RTA, replaces Paul J. Ballard who will be heading up the Fort Worth Transportation Authority as president/CEO.
The buses will serve the free downtown Music City Circuit, which is designed to help residents and visitors reach sports and entertainment venues, downtown hotels, residences and offices more quickly and easily.
Paul J. Ballard, current CEO of the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority and the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee, will begin his new position in April.
Nashville MTA offers internships to students in the Metro Nashville Schools Community Based Transition Program, which provides job and life skill training to students between the ages of 18 and 22.
Together, they provided 10.5 million passenger trips in the Middle Tennessee region.
MTA was notified late last week it provided sufficient information to enter the project development phase as outlined under FTA’s Small Starts grants program.
Diverting from the current 7.1-mile route would reduce efficiency and increase travel times, according to the agency's CEO Paul Ballard.
