The 56 passenger coaches come with Van Hool's standard safety features including Kidde fire suppression, Smartwave tire monitoring, automatic traction control, lane departure warning and a backup camera.
Northfield Lines' 2014 ADA-equipped CX45 is powered by a Detroit DD13 engine coupled to an Allison B500G5 transmission, while Air Bear Travel's order consists of two Van Hool TX45s and two CXs, which are driven by DD13 engines coupled to Allison B500G5 transmissions.
Vehicles are equipped with Wi-Fi, 120-volt power outlets, individual lighting and climate controls, plush reclining seats and a restroom.
Campus Connections’ new service helps students get home for the holidays and other breaks. A former motorcoach driver for Northfield Lines who now works for Campus Connections came up with the idea, saying he wanted to help students attending smaller schools in smaller towns.
Over the past 23 years, John (pictured) and Larry Benjamin, co-owners of the Minnesota-based business, have built up their companies to become award-winning motorcoach and school bus operations. Meanwhile, the industry says goodbye to Larry, a well-loved member who made invaluable contributions through the UMA.
METRO publisher Frank DiGiacomo presented the award to owners John Benjamin and Larry Benjamin at the UMA’s 2012 Motorcoach Expo in Long Beach, Calif., in February to honor their exceptional achievements in the industry.
